This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: How do I uninstall when DivX doesn't appear in control panel-> add/remove programs?

I have tried "Add or Remove" programs function in Control Panel, but it doesn't do anything at all, not like the FAQ states it's supposed to.

Please go ahead and download and run the all in one fix version 1.95 using the link below:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5702989/AllIn...

Select the 'Installation Overide" option. Once done you will then need to re install DivX Plus once more after you follow the steps above.

Install directly from this installer:

http://go.divx.com/software/divx-plus...

Once reinstalled then you should be able to go to your add/remove programs in your control panel and see the DivX Set-up in the list of programs. This will allow you to uninstall.

Please let us know how the above helps your issue.

I would also like to inform you that I changed the topic name, to provide more clarity.

How do I remove dvix setup from my Windows XP system? Add/Remove Programs won't do it.

I've tried the old and new installers manually and they won't do it -- they all complain of missing files or dlls during the install for goodness' sake!

I tried re-installing all the divx modules, and got 'missing xxx' errors here as well. And none of the above delete procedures work after the attempted install either.

It's not listed in the uninstallers anywhere. So how does a person uninstall it without hunting down numerous folders and deleting them?

Here's what worked for me, and didn't require any additional downloads: I ran the divxsetup program with the /uninstall option. The program should already be on your machine, under Application Data\DivX\Setup. I'm running an older Windows XP tablet, so the location may be different for you.

From a command prompt (Start Menu->Run, enter "cmd" without quotes, hit OK), enter these two commands (without the '>' character of course):

> cd C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DivX\Setup
> divxsetup /uninstall

Hope it works for you,
Michaelson Britt

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I followed the instructions here and the browser bar is still in my internet. I tried removing it via chrome's settings, removing extensions and though the extension is gone from my list, the browser bar is still here. If I had known it was this hard to uninstall, I wouldn't have downloaded it.

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: How to uninstall DivX Browser Bar?

Same problem. I can't remove the free software in control panel. When I try, I get the message the program has stopped responding. This happens over and over. I do not want to go through all the links either to rid my machine of this. I just want a simple solution.
