The default behavior of subtitle playback will depend on the type of subtitles being used. The two types of behavior will be different for external subtitle files (e.g. a .SRT file) compared to muxed subtitles (i.e. files included as their own track in video converted through DivX Plus Converter).
For external subtitle files:
- As Russell mentioned above, in DivX Plus Player there is a preference that can be accessed by going to File > Preferences > Subtitles. The option "Automatically use corresponding subtitle files" will automatically display external subtitle files if the box is checked. If the box is not checked, subtitles from an external file must be turned on automatically for each video.
- The function mentioned above is checked by default, meaning when DivX Plus Player is first installed it will be automatically checked and external subtitle files will automatically play, unless that preference in changed.
For muxed subtitles:
- Any subtitle track that has been muxed into the file will need to be turned on manually.
- There is not a preference to change the default behavior for muxed subtitles in the DivX Plus Player.
To manually turn on a subtitle track (either external or muxed), right click on the playback screen of DivX Plus Player with the video loaded. Select "Subtitles" and then select the subtitle track you want to use. If you have multiple subtitle tracks, a blue dot to the left of the track name will indicate which track has been selected. In my screenshot below you can see how this looks; the screenshot is for the Spanish interface of player, but the layout is the same regardless of the language.
